Injury risk is, overall, increased during fixture-congested periods; however, the layoff duration is typically shorter. The current findings have implications for practitioners regarding the management, periodisation, monitoring, and design of training and competition schedules.

Building partnerships: A case study of physical activity researchers and practitioners collaborating to build evidence to inform the delivery of a workplace step count challenge
The “real world” nature is challenging to integrate the most robust research designs. Recommendations for developing future partnerships were identified. Promoting physical activity effectively requires partnership working, and this paper provides insight into how such partnerships can work to inform future collaborations.

Changes in submaximal and maximal measures of cardio-respiratory fitness resulting from 6-days of mountain walking

A six-day mountain trek produced significant increases in cardiorespiratory fitness among young men and women. Benefits seen during the submaximal treadmill exercise included an improved walking economy, lowered heart rate and rating of perceived exertion (RPE), and an increased oxygen pulse. Maximal exercise responses that improved included VO2max and time to exhaustion.
